Sedona is one of the biggest Romanian provider of POS tax systems dedicated to merchants, occasionally supplying solutions for other EU countries as well. Founded in 2002 by CEO Alexandru Lembrau, the company serves tens of thousands of merchants with an extensive portfolio of fiscal equipment, accessories and consumables.
Currently, Sedona has two offices, in Bucharest and Constanța, combining a team of 32 employees. The Romanian company has evolved from just selling cash registers to, currently, providing complete IT solutions such as in-house software development. This business expansion places Sedona in the top three providers of cash registers by the number of end users, including well-known names such as Metro Cash & Carry, eMag or Mega Mall on the list of clients.
Reliability, full functionality and support, the key to success for Sedona Retail
Faced with choosing a cloud provider for its products, the company opted for Google Cloud Platform option, a decision also supported by one of the in-house IT specialists of Sedona.
The flexibility to enable or disable resources as needed was one of the points that led Sedona to choose GCP over other cloud or on-premise solutions.
We moved most of the websites and other software we use to GCP and thus reduced the number of invoices we received from various suppliers. At the same time, the number of cases where our cloud-dependent sites or programs end up being non-functional has also decreased.
With GCP, now the company also enjoys a simplified cloud accounting process, with most applications hosted and managed in one place.
From GCP client to officially supported integration by Google
Efficiency, application stability, low costs and reliability – these are just some of the reasons why Sedona appreciates integration with Google Cloud Platform.
With needs like hosting for internal sites and applications or optimizing static site resources, favorite services include GKE, Cloud CDN, DNS, Compute Engine, and, of course, Cloud Storage.
To close a full circle of connections between Sedona and Google, one of the in-house developers, Gabriel Hodoroagă, is responsible for developing the integration between Kubernetes Ingress GCE and Cloud CDN. This integration, meant only for Sedona’s use, was later officially accepted by Google and integrated into GKE.
Why does Sedona recommend working with FOTC, a Google Premium partner?
To take a management program like Sedona Retail from idea to realisation, Sedona relies on the support of Google’s local partner, FOTC Romania. Its collaboration with FOTC, a Premium Google Partner with over 8 years of experience, as well as the GCP voucher offered by the company, proved to be the beginning of a beneficial and proactive collaboration.
For the foreseeable future, we want to develop the provision of cloud services to our customers, more so the hosting of the databases for management programs, and therefore expand the use of GCP. In our collaboration up to date on both GCP and Google Workspace services, FOTC has proven to be a professional, proactive provider with whom we communicate very fluently.
Another important step for a successful digitalization of the company was implementing of the Workspace fully integrated application suite. Continuity on Google products was the winning card for Sedona and its team, currently managing about 80% of all internal documents in the cloud.
